Day 1 – Monday.  Rome – Amalfi – Sorrento – Naples 
Morning departure form Rome to the charming Amlfi Coast arriving at the Queen of the Coast” the town of Amalfi for a short city tour. Once Amalfi used to be an important Maritime republic just like Pisa or Venice until most of its coastline has been washed away by tidal waves.  The former important town is now a major tourist hub with its romantic  vistas and hidden alleys. In the cathedral are kept the tombs of the saint patron of Amalfi and also of St. Andrew of Scotland. Driving through the scenic coast we stop briefly at Positano, a small local village built on a steep hill, for a view of the village and the sea below. Arrival in Sorrento where you will have time to wander around on the old town’s typical streets, then continue to Naples for dinner and overnight. Naples is the major city of  southern Italy and an important port on the Gulf of Naples at the foothills of mount Vesuvius. The mild climate, the rich history and numerous attractions have attracted tourists from all over the world since 18 Century. The heart of Naples is the old town, declared by UNESCO to a World Heritage site with its narrow streets leading to mysterious churches, catacombs and caves.  Local artisans, street sellers, flapping laundry hanging from windows and screaming fish sellers are all typical of  the old Neapolitan folk cultures. Naples is dominated by the hill of Vomero with the impressive Castello S. Elmo. Naples is also birthplace of Pizza.

Day 2 – Tuesday  Naples and Capri
Today we embark on a boat excursion to the beautiful island of Capri, a popular vacation spot since Roman times for its fantastic vistas.  The magical island of sirens has inspired many artists and tourists through centuries and is connected to many legends. Free time. You can walk from the main square to the Gardens of August and admire the view of the famous Faraglioni rocks and the rugged south cost of the island. Possibility to visit the Blue Grotto.  Return to Naples for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Wednesday Naples Pompeii Tropea. 
After breakfast we depart to Pompeii one of the world’s most popular archeological sites and fascination of many.  After the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for centuries under the lava. The excavations, which already begun in 18 th century, still go on today. We will lead you through some of the ancient streets, where you can see baths, forums and villas which were built by wealthy Romans in 80 BC. with some remarkable inner courtyards, colored mosaics and frescos still visible today. After the visit of the site we continue to the Tropea a Calabrian city built high on the reef overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. You will have free time to visit the old town. Dinner and overnight at the Tropea area.

Day 4 – Thursday Tropea – Reggio Calabria – Taormina – Syracuse 
After breakfast we depart to Reggio Calabria where we will see the famouse Bronzi di Riace, the Greek bronze statues of life size warriors dating back to 450 BC. Later we cross the Strait of Messina by ferry and arrive in Taormina, Sicily built on the hilltop with fantastic views. Free time in the old town and to visit the ruins of the spectacular view of the Greco-Roman theatre. Drive to Syracusa, the ‘New York” of the former ancient world of antiquity. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Friday  Syracuse – Piazza Armenia  Agrigento 
After breakfast guided excursion at the Syracusa Archeological Park, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus,, the Cave of the Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient center of the old Greek city with its stunning cathedral and many legends. Drive to Piazza Armenia to visit the Villa de Casale, one of the world’s largest Roman villas, famouse for its extensive mosaics. Free time for lunch, then continue to Agrigento where we will visit the ancient Greek Doric Temples of Magna Grecia dedicated to Zeus, Juno and Hercules. Dinner and overnight at Agrigento.

Day 6 – Saturday Agrigento Monreale Palermo
Today we drive to Monreale to admire the golden mosaics of the Norman cathedral and cloister. Continue to Palermo the largest city and capital of Sicily where we will have free time for lunch followed by a city tour to visit the Palatine Chapel and the cathedral.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Palermo.

Day 7 – Sunday Palermo
Breakfast. End of services. Possibility to add extra days or  check out more detailed tours within Sicily. or cruises around the Sicilian islands.
