Itinerary: Rome – Orvieto – Montepulciano – Siena area (1 night) – Siena – Bologna – Mestra (2 nights) – Venice – Florence (2 nights) – Assisi -Rome

DAY 1 – MONDAY – ROME – ORVIETO – MONTEPULCIANO – SIENA AREA

Departure from Rome at 8:00 am with your tour leader (possibility to be picked up from central Rome hotels) bound for Orvieto, a small, ancient town in Umbria perched on a tuff volcanic cliff. The centermost feature of the pretty town is the Duomo di Orvieto dating from 1290, see the stunning mosaic façade. Stand and breathe the county air and feel the relaxed pace of a town known for producing exceptional white wine. Then we continue onto Montepulciano to taste the local Vino Nobile, one of the oldest and most valuable wines of Tuscany. Accommodation in a hotel near Siena where we will have a welcome dinner and stay overnight. Meals: D

DAY 2 – TUESDAY – SIENA AREA – SIENA – BOLOGNA – MESTRE

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Mestre. Along the way our first stop will be dedicated to visiting the historic center of Siena. Siena is a medieval city built around the Piazza del Campo, which is famous for its architectural beauty and its unique “shell” shape. Your licensed local guide will give you an informative walking tour. Then we continuation to Bologna where you and free time to visit the city sights such as the imposing Piazza Maggiore and the Asinelli and Garisenda towers. Later we will arrive in Mestre. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY – MESTRE – VENICE – MESTRE

Breakfast at the hotel. We will then transfer to the magical Island of Venice. Here you will be joined by a local guide for a guided tour of the historic center. You will pass through Piazza San Marco, the heart of the city, with its extraordinary buildings the Basilica di San Marco, Palazzo Ducale, the Clock Tower and the Bridge of Sighs. Afterwards we will depart by boat to Murano to visit a famous glass factory and admire the age-old glass-making process. Return to Piazza San Marco where you will have free time. You will have the possibility of taking an optional gondola ride or perhaps you may prefer to relax, and people watch at a local café. At the scheduled time you will rejoin your group to return to the hotel.  Tonight, you have a free evening to explore the local restaurants and to eat like a local. Overnight stay. Meals: B

DAY 4 – THURSDAY – VENICE MESTRE – VERONA – FLORENCE

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Verona. This romantic city is the inspiration for the Shakespearean love story, Romeo and Juliet. In the early afternoon we continue to Florence. After arriving we visit the historic center of the city seeing iconic locations such as Piazza del Duomo, the Santa-Maria-del- Fiore’s Cathedral, Piazza della Signoria and the beautiful Ponte Vecchio. Evening free to enjoy this beautiful city on your own. Overnight stay. Meals: B

Day 5 – FRIDAY – FLORENCE

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to explore Florence also called the “Cradle of Renaissance”, with its unique artistic and cultural center. Possibility of optional tours, such as a visit of the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia Gallery or an excursion further afield to the Chianti district. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 6 – SATURDAY – FLORENCE – ASSISI – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we say goodbye to Florence as we travel South to Assisi. Here we will walk through the alleys of the medieval city. Assisi is known for being the place where St. Francis and St. Clare lived, two important figures in Italian religious history. Afterwards we continue onto Rome and we will arrive back in the city center late in the afternoon. Guaranteed drop-offs in Viale Washington, Viale Luigi Einaudi / Termini Railway Station area or Via Ludovisi. Transfer services and extra nights in Rome available upon request. End of services. Meals: B
