DAY 1 – SATURDAY – MILAN – COMO – MILAN

Meet your tour leader directly at the hotel for the start of your Grand Tour of Italy. Start your sightseeing visit of Milan, regarded as the city of fashion and shopping. Discover the city’s icons including the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and La Scala Theatre House. Afterwards we take a half-day excursion to Como, a small historical town on beautiful Lake Como. We will have a walking tour of the town center and a short boat trip on the lake. Return to Milan. Welcome dinner at the hotel and overnight. Meals: D

DAY 2 – SUNDAY – MILAN – SIRMIONE – VERONA – MESTRE

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we depart to the town of Sirmione, located on popular Lake Garda. Upon arrival we will take a boat tour to discover some of the local history including Maria Callas’ Villa, the Scaligero Castle and the ruins of an ancient Roman villa, commonly called “Grotte di Catullo”. We will then continue to Verona where you will have free time to wander this romantic city and see the location that inspired the Shakespearean love story, Romeo and Juliet. In the afternoon we depart for Mestre. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 3 – MONDAY – MESTRE – VENICE – MESTRE

Breakfast at the hotel. We will then transfer to the Island of Venice, a unique and magical city. Guided tour of the historic city center passing through Piazza San Marco, with its extraordinary buildings including the Basilica di San Marco, Palazzo Ducale, Torre dell’Orologio and for the Bridge of Sighs. Then we will depart by boat to the Island of Murano. Here we will visit a famous glass factory and see how the precious glass artifacts are manufactured. We will return to Piazza San Marco and here you will have free time to enjoy the city. You may wish to take a gondola ride or just enjoy the local ambiance in a side-walk café. Later we will meet back and return to the hotel. The evening tonight is free for you to relax and enjoy. Overnight at the hotel. Meals: B

DAY 4 – TUESDAY – MESTRE – BOLOGNA – FLORENCE

Breakfast at the hotel, depart for Bologna. Free time to visit the city’s beautiful main sights such as the imposing Piazza Maggiore, the Torri degli Asinelli and Garisenda. Early in the afternoon we continue onto Florence. Upon arrival we will visit of the historic center and see many of the iconic places including the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio. Hotel accommodation. Tonight, you have a free evening in Florence to enjoy. Overnight hotel. Meals: B

DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY – FLORENCE

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to explore Florence, also called the “Cradle of Renaissance”, one of the most famous cities in the world, with its unique artistic and cultural center. There will be the possibility of optional tours, such as a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia Gallery or an excursion to the wine district of Chianti. Dinner at a local restaurant in Florence. Overnight hotel. Meals: B, D

DAY 6 – THURSDAY – FLORENCE – SAN GIMIGNANO – SIENA – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we head through Tuscany to the hilltop town of San Gimignano. Here you will have the opportunity to explore on your own this tiny UNESCO listed medieval village. Afterwards we continue to beautiful Siena where you will have a guided tour of this ancient town. Built around the shell shaped Piazza del Campo, with the imposing black and white marble duomo you will be enchanted by its architectural beauty. Next we depart for Rome where we will arrive at the city center in the evening. Transfer to hotel. Overnight Rome. Meals: B

DAY 7 – FRIDAY – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure to relax and enjoy Rome on your own. Alternatively, skip the lines and enjoy a morning, afternoon or evening tour of the Vatican City. Visit the Vatican Museum, see the stunning Sistine Chapel and visit St Peters Basilica. Or see Imperial Rome on a morning or afternoon tour. Skip the lines and see the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Roman Forum. Overnight Rome. Meals: B.

DAY 9 – SUNDAY – ROME – NAPLES – POMPEII – SORRENTO

Breakfast at the hotel or order a breakfast box (the night beforehand) to take with you. Pick up from hotel and departure from Rome at 7:30am. Upon arrival in Naples, the group will enjoy an informative walking tour of the city center. We will then have lunch in a local restaurant where we will get a chance to try some typical Neapolitan pizza. After lunch we will depart for Pompeii to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient Roman city was destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvio vulcano in 79 AD. The eruption buried the city and preserved it under a sea of volcanic ash for almost 1700 years. The stop in Pompeii will also include a visit to a coral and cameo shop where you will see this ancient artform on display. We then continue onto Sorrento which is the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. The picturesque old town, and the charming fishing village of Marina Grande, are the most authentic corners of this famous coastline. A dinner will be held tonight at the hotel. Overnight stay. DAY 10 – MONDAY – SORRENTO – CAPRI – SORRENTO

Breakfast at the hotel, then we depart for the Isle of Capri. We will board at the port of Sorrento and travel by hydrofoil. Once on the island we will visit the beautiful Blue Grotto (conditions permitting) and then visit the famous Piazzetta, the heart of the island. We will then continue by minibus to Anacapri where we will have lunch at a local restaurant (drinks not included). After lunch we will return to the port and back to our Sorrento hotel. Dinner and overnight stay. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 11 – TUESDAY – SORRENTO – POSITANO – AMALFI – AREA OF SALERNO

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will visit Positano and Amalfi with our guide. Positano is a cliff-side village with a pebble beachfront and steep, narrow streets lined with cafes. Amalfi is a small town below steep cliffs overlooking a dramatic UNESCO world heritage listed coastline. During the 9th and 11th century’s Amalfi was a powerful player in maritime trade with the East. You will have free time to explore the area on your own. Evening free for you to enjoy on your own. Overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 12 – WEDNESDAY – SALERNO AREA – MATERA – ALBEROBELLO

Breakfast at the hotel and then we depart South East to Matera. Here you will have a guided tour of this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage listed town. Early in the afternoon we will continue onto Alberobello. Here we will stop for a tasting of Puglia olive oil. This splendid village is renowned all over the world for its famous Trulli dry stone houses. Your guide will explain the origins of these unique structures, the oldest trulli date back to the 14th century. Overnight in Alberobello. Evening free for you to explore on your own. Overnight stay. Meals: B

DAY 13 – THURSDAY – ALBEROBELLO – LECCE – OSTUNI – ALBEROBELLO

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will have an excursion to Lecce and Ostuni. First stop will be in Lecce considered by many to be the Florence of the South. Here we will have a guided tour to discover this stunning Apulian baroque town. We then continue onto Ostuni which is also known as the White City for its historic town center entirely painted in white limewash. After arriving, we will tour the town in the traditional Ape Calessino a fun 3 wheeled open motorcar with a canopy. Return to the hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy. Overnight stay. Meals: B

DAY 14 – FRIDAY – ALBEROBELLO – BARI – BENEVENTO – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we depart for Bari. Here you will have free time to explore the old city, set within the ancient city walls. Continuing we will reach Benevento where we will stop at the factory where “Strega” is produced. This is one of Italy’s most famous liqueurs. Afterwards we depart for Rome with an expected late evening arrival. Guaranteed drop-offs in Viale Washington, Viale Luigi Einaudi / Termini Station area, Via Ludovisi.
