 A flexible semi-escorted visit of Italy’s major cities for those who do not like structured tours. Depart on any day you wish and enjoy lots of free time to discover  these art cities at your leisure or check rail tours starting in Rome.

Itinerary
Day 1 Milan
Arrival in Milan on your own and check into the hotel. Free time at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 2: Milan
After breakfast at the hotel, departure on a panoramic sightseeing tour of Milan to view the Teatro La Scala, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Duomo, and the medieval city wall with S. Ambrogio and S. Lorenzo churches, Piazza Cadorna, Piazza Castello. courtyards of the Castle. Then proceed to Santa Maria Delle Grazie to admire the Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” In the afternoon free time at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 3: Milan – Venice
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Milan railway station by your own. High speed train to Venice (regular class). Arrival in Venice at 12:10 pm. Transfer from Venice railway station to the hotel on your own. Free time leisure. Or if you wish, you can add an afternoon boat excursion to visit the nearby islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello, the picturesque islands where the history of Venice originally started. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 4: Venice
After breakfast, walking tour of Venice and Doge’s Palace characteristic and important places for the history of Venice. A qualified and experienced guide will explain all about the life of the former Serenissima Republic, recalling the unique past of this exceptional and distinctive city. At the end of the walking tour, visit of the Doge’s Palace. The Palazzo Ducale represented for centuries the seat of the Venetian political power. In his splendid rooms, the Duke and his Council controlled the fate of a thousands of year old republic throughout the centuries. Overnight at your hotel.

DAY 5: Venice – Florence
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Venice railway station on your own using the vaporetto, water taxi or by walking.  Train to Florence (regular class). Arrival in Florence at 12:30 pm. Free time. Explore this art city on your own or sign up for an optional walking tour this afternoon of Florence and the Uffizi Gallery.

DAY 6: Florence
After breakfast, pick up at hotel and departure to an unforgettable full day excursion to the land of wine, food and Medieval art at San Gimignano, Chianti and Siena. The first stop is at San Gimignano, the Medieval town of “skyscrpers” a magnificent Medieval urban treasure and a UNESCO world heritage site. Here you will have free time to visit the village and its splendid squares, palaces, churches and the magnificent towers. The tour continues through the famous wine growing area of the Chianti Classico. We will stop by a typical Tuscan winery where you can visit the cellars and vineyards follwed by a delicious Tuscan lunch. In the afternoon we proceed to Siena for a guided walking tour of the city centre with the famous Cathedral and Piazza del Campo, scene of the yearly Palio horse show. We will also visit the  Monteriggioni fortress. Return to Florence for overnight.

DAY 7: Florence – Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Florence train station. Arrival in Rome at 12:40 pm. Check into the hotel. Afternoon at leisure or you can sign up for the optional  Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine hill tour.

After pick up at your hotel (in selected hotels in central Rome), you will reach the Archaeological area with no stress, ready to get the most complete tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill no line and discover the hill where Rome was founded at the beginning. Then reach the Colosseum and be amazed by this monument that is the symbol of Rome in the world. The Amphitheater created to entertain ancient Roman citizens with bloody shows of gladiators, animals and cruel games.  Then, walk on the original path of ancient Rome along the Via Sacra and see the Temples of Vesta, Antonino and Faustina, the ancient Basilica Julia and Aemilia and dream about the glorious past of the famed empire.

DAY 8: Rome
After breakfast, departure on a guided tour of the Vatican city. Guided excursion of Peter’s Basilica without queue. Upon arrival your guide will lead you into the museums most important art collection of the world. Admire the beautiful geographical maps, before arriving at the famous Sistine Chapel and the unforgettable Basilica. Afternoon free for own activities.  Overnight at hotel.

DAY 9: Rome departure
