Tour Itinerary
Day 1 ROME–MONTEPULCIANO-PIENZA-SANT’ANTIMOPOGGIBONSI
This morning meeting with your Tour Leader in ROME. Departure by coach to
MONTEPULCIANO visiting the town and WINE TASTING of the famous “Nobile” di
Montepulciano. Free time for lunch on your own. In the afternoon proceed to
PIENZA, the Renaissance “ideal town”, built by Pope Pius II. Visit of the
PALAZZO PICCOLOMINI, the CATHEDRAL and the PALAZZO CIVICO. Transfer and
visit of the ancient SANT’ANTIMO ABBEY in perfect Romanesque-style. Dinner
and overnight at the hotel in Poggibonsi.
Day 2 POGGIBONSI-SIENA-POGGIBONSI
After breakfast departure to SIENA for the visit of his beautiful medieval
monuments and landscapes: the CATHEDRAL, PIAZZA DEL CAMPO with the PALAZZO
COMUNALE, the famous TOWER OF “MANGIA”. Free time for lunch on your own.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 POGGIBONSI-CARRARA-VOLTERRA-POGGIBONSI
Departure by coach to CARRARA and visit of the impressive MARBLE QUARRIES
carved deep into the mountain, where Michelangelo took the raw material to
create his superb masterpieces. Lunch in a typical restaurant in the
quarries. Proceed to VOLTERRA. Visit of the reminiscent old town, famous for
its mining of Alabaster, the medieval CATHEDRAL and PALAZZO DEI PRIORI. The
visit will terminate into a typical artisanal Alabaster workshop. Dinner and
overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 POGGIBONSI-ALBERESE-POPULONIA-ROME
After breakfast morning departure by coach to ALBERESE for a visit of a
FARMHOUSE IN THE MAREMMA. Here you’ll have a showcase of the Maremman
traditions, meeting the BUTTERI,
the famous Maremman “cowboys”, with their horses and the cattle. Later
you’ll taste typical MAREMMAN FOODS AND WINE. This afternoon transfer to
POPULONIA. Visit to the
monumental ETRUSCAN SITE OF POPULONIA, located on the cape of the lush
Baratti’s bay. Arrival in the evening in ROME and end of the services.
